Position Overview

The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for executing daily food service tasks to ensure timely and accurate meal delivery for customers and patients, adhering to the standards set by University Hospitals. This role emphasizes maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace while following proper food safety protocols and utilizing departmental equipment efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute daily food service tasks to meet meal delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace suitable for food handling, including mopping, sweeping, and dishwashing.
  • Operate departmental equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, including food safety regulations.
  • Stay updated with training requirements and safety in-services.
  • Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous service to both internal and external customers in line with departmental standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in specialized areas such as diet office and/or cashier duties.
  • Exhibit strong multitasking abilities and manage multiple workstations or assignments.
  • Possess the capability to train fellow employees.
General Requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific responsibilities during orientation.
  • Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with established protocols.
University Hospitals is offering a sign-on bonus for full-time Nutrition Services Associates hired externally, payable in two installments after specified periods of employment.

Qualifications:
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
  • Completion of Customer Service training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in food service preferred.
  • 2+ years of customer interaction experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with cash handling preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in computer systems used in Nutrition Services preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions effectively required.
  • Strong guest relations skills required.
  • Effective communication with team members and customers required.
  • Time management skills required.
  • Physical capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds required.
  • Ability to stand, reach, and stoop for extended periods required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Rarely sitting.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of 50 lbs.
  • Regular climbing, balancing, and reaching.
