Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Nurse to join our team at UNC Medical Center. As a critical care nurse in the burn center, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $2074 per week, based on industry standards and location. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
  • Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs and attend education programs accordingly.
  • Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
  • Assess the readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers, evaluating developmental levels and factors affecting the ability to learn.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance in revising care plans.
  • Engage in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, addressing population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan.
  • Follow healthcare organization policies and procedures in delivery of care.
  • Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
  • Consult with appropriate resources promptly for patients with complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning.
  • Develop goals to promote professional growth or address limitations, achieving them within designated time frames.
  • Participate in intra/interdepartmental collaboration and development of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Use communication systems effectively and participate in promoting cost-effective care.
  • Provide feedback to co-workers and stay informed of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting health care.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
  • Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities and synthesize assessment data into a meaningful whole before communication.
  • Develop relationships with families that empower them to advocate for the patient and their needs.
  • Collaborate with patient and family in planning care, using multidisciplinary resources and addressing cultural and ethnic issues.
  • Read relevant journals and bring ideas to staff discussions for assessment of applicability.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • One year of nursing experience
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking
