Position Title: Educational Programs Volunteer
Department: Education
Location: Miami, FL
Role Summary: The Educational Programs Volunteer at Frost Science will collaborate with the Education team to support the implementation of various educational initiatives, including camps and interactive demonstrations. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and commit to a minimum of 6 months of service, contributing at least 8 hours each month.
Compensation: Unpaid (community service hours provided)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing materials and prototypes for educational activities.
- Support museum educators with classroom responsibilities.
- Facilitate youth programs, including camps, classes, and workshops.
- Collaborate effectively with museum staff and fellow volunteers to deliver programs to a diverse audience during special events.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Volunteers are expected to be friendly and represent Frost Science positively at all times.
- Genuine interest in science and the mission of Frost Science.
- Strong verbal communication abilities.
- Dependable and punctual, demonstrating good attendance.
- Positive demeanor with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience working with children, youth, and families is preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Required to wear a Frost Science uniform T-shirt during shifts.
Commitment Requirements:
- Must commit to the volunteer program for a minimum of 6 months.
- Must be able to contribute at least 8 hours per month.
Clearance Requirements:
- Level 2 background check as per Florida Statutes.
- Drug screening as part of the Drug-Free Workplace Program.
