Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepares and calibrates all necessary equipment and skillfully maneuvers transducers to carry out examinations.+ Adheres to safety regulations and executes appropriate quality assurance measures.+ Performs both routine and advanced studies, assisting physicians in various imaging tasks.+ Identifies critical structures, artifacts, pathologies, and limitations of equipment.+ Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Sonography or Vascular Technology, or completion of a cardiac ultrasound program (minimum of 18 months duration).
Certification Requirements:
+ New employees must secure the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiac Credentialing International within one year of employment.+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
Work Complexity:+ Requires analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the capability to operate with minimal oversight.+ Must be able to function in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.
Experience Requirements:
+ Proven expertise in m-mode, 2D and Doppler measurements, and cardiac hemodynamics.+ Proficient with computers and capable of learning related software.+ Graduate of a cardiac ultrasound program (minimum of 18 months); or two years of full-time echocardiography experience.
Physical Demands:
+ Requires prolonged standing and walking; must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.+ Ability to assist in patient transport, including pushing beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs.+ Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and possess motor coordination for operation.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Adheres to standard precautions utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary.
