Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Forensic Mechanical Engineer to join our team at J.S. Held. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating the cause and origin of failures, damages, or defects in mechanical systems and components within industrial, commercial, and residential sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations to determine the cause of mechanical system failures and defects.
  • Analyze failure modes, code requirements, and provide recommendations for repair and/or replacement as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for clients detailing opinions and conclusions.
  • Participate on multidisciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.
  • Maintain established relationships with current clients and consultants.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in evaluating mechanical system and component failures in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; minimum required of resident state. Multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record preferred.
  • Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $130,000 - $170,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
