Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the fleet maintenance program at Transdev. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective upkeep of our vehicles, as well as providing guidance and support to our technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance of a mixed transit bus fleet of 200+ vehicles with annual fleet miles in excess of 10 million miles.
  • Schedule and supervise a team of 50+ employees, ensuring the effective supervision of mechanics and other shop workers.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel.
  • Coordinate work performed by outside vendors.
  • Develop and implement efficient repair schedules, reviewing repair cost estimates.
  • Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts, as well as requirements of scheduled operations.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for the department, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
  • Ensure that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ASE Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred or ability to obtain.
  • 5 years or more of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
  • Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence - Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and well-ventilated facilities with telephone and computer.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and be able to lift 50lbs.
