Job Summary

To provide comprehensive child abuse evaluations and consultations for patients at Women and Children's Hospital. The physician will also be available for expert consultation on patients outside of Women and Children's Hospital for possible child abuse and neglect, and will be available for court appearances as an expert witness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical expertise and consultation to enhance the provision of high-quality care and efficient utilization of resources consistent with quality clinical practice.
  • Act as an educator and/or consultant for residents and medical students on clinic rotation.
  • Monitor and review patient records and reports to ensure quality care and desirable outcomes.
  • Ensure that provider coverage and provision of care meets the needs of patients.
  • Participate in Unit Collaborative Practice Committee to problem-solve and address issues affecting patient care and outcomes.
  • Review unit-specific policies and procedures and participate in development of updates as indicated.
  • Make recommendations regarding equipment and supply needs, in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Nurse Manager, for budgetary planning in keeping with technological and clinical advancements.
  • Provide support to the Medical Director in planning calendar and activities which will provide adequate and appropriate supervision/coverage for residents and medical students assigned to the unit.
  • Support and participate in continuous Quality Improvement (TQM) initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Medical Staff By-Laws/Rules and Regulations, applicable accrediting body Standards and CAMC Policies and Procedures.

  • Medical Degree (Required)
  • Board certified in Pediatrics
  • Unrestricted West Virginia Medical License
