Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description

Aveanna is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide high-quality patient care and support in a home-based setting.

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant will be responsible for providing personal medical care and assistance with daily living activities to patients in their homes. This includes performing basic first aid, taking vital signs, and assisting with catheter and bowel care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, toileting, and dressing
  • Perform basic first aid and take vital signs, such as temperature and blood pressure
  • Assist with catheter and bowel care, including I&O monitoring
  • Range of motion exercises and exercises as assigned by a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist
  • Ambulation, transfer, and positioning with wheelchairs and other non-life support medical equipment and devices
  • Prepare meals according to dietary and nutritional needs
  • Care for patients with special conditions and needs within the scope of authorized tasks

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Current, unrestricted certification or proof of training as required by the state
  • Current CPR certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures
  • Valid Drivers License and Acceptable MVR

Working Conditions:

The Certified Nursing Assistant will work in a home-based setting, providing care to patients in their homes. This may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions. The aide must be able to function in a wide variety of environments and be able to respond physically and mentally to emergency situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch
