We are currently seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Manager with expertise in safety and dispatch to join our team in Dallas. The primary responsibility of this position will be to recruit, support, and train drivers, ensuring a safe and efficient transportation experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment process for drivers, maintaining a pool of prospective candidates.
  • Source, recruit, screen, and interview experienced driver candidates through various channels, including cold calling, computer databases, and Internet recruiting resources.
  • Review CDLs, DOT physicals, MVRs, and DQ files to ensure compliance.
  • Cultivate a positive culture, quality performance, safe environment, and a positive, professional driver experience.
  • Participate in new driver training, orientation, and onboarding processes.
  • Stay knowledgeable about local labor market processes and policies related to drivers.
  • Manage driver performance, route scheduling, equipment maintenance scheduling, and collaborate with functional groups to meet operational goals.
  • Conduct background checks, perform road tests for drivers, and provide them with proper training as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, client, OSHA, and Department of Transportation regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance of all standardized processes for driver background checks, pre-employment medical screening, and DOT Physicals.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits of DOT driver qualification files and records to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for conducting driver performance appraisals, training, and developing drivers, enforcing company and customer policies, and disseminating general company news and information.
  • Ensure correct use of, and assist with, driver training on company systems (Qualcomm/Omnitracs, LoadTrek, timesheets, etc.) to accurately represent work performed.
  • Develop local accident and injury prevention plans and programs.
  • Schedule and present training/orientation programs. Conduct monthly employee/driver safety meetings.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in safety and driver training.
  • Previous experience in driver training, recruitment, and safety and compliance is an asset.
  • Safety-driven with expertise in HOS, DOT regulations, and driver welfare.
  • Solid understanding of the trucking industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
