Job Overview
Danfoss LLC is seeking a PLC Engineering Manager specializing in Industrial Refrigeration. This role is pivotal within our Global Headquarters for Industrial Refrigeration System Controls.

The PLC Engineering Manager will provide essential technical guidance to our PLC Engineering teams engaged in Engineer-To-Order PLC System Controls.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Assist the PLC Engineering Team in the design, development, and documentation of PLC programs for industrial refrigeration systems using tools such as Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE, Wonderware, and Ignition.
  • Generate and interpret logic and flow diagrams to facilitate program design, programming, simulation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Organization and Inside Sales for quotations and customer interactions.
  • Utilize refrigeration expertise to aid in resolving escalated troubleshooting issues as required.
  • Oversee the planning, organization, and management of project schedules and resources within the PLC Engineering Department.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the PLC Engineering Team.
  • Establish competencies for effective performance and ensure team members receive appropriate motivation, recognition, and training opportunities for professional growth.
  • Enhance engineering performance by contributing to strategic planning and reviews, preparing action plans to boost productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction, addressing engineering challenges, identifying trends, and implementing improvements.
  • Achieve departmental goals by forecasting needs and preparing an annual budget for personnel, equipment, and training, managing expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective measures.

Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base by staying updated on industry standards and regulations, engaging in educational opportunities, reviewing professional literature, and participating in industry organizations.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with Industrial Refrigeration systems and principles.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and developing PLC programs.
  • 7-10 years of experience with PLC controls, specifically Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/Factory Talk.
  • Experience with Wonderware and Ignition is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with VFDs, starters, and circuit breakers (primarily 220V & 460V).
  • Ability to create and interpret wiring diagrams.
  • Strong project management and time management skills to ensure adherence to engineering project and production timelines.
  • Solid understanding of communication protocols and controls networking principles.
  • Exceptional technical and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Results-driven with a hands-on approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed.
