About the Role

PennState Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the highest level of patient safety.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, promoting a positive and respectful experience.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified First Assistant (CFA).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a surgical setting, with a strong understanding of surgical procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BLS certification and experience with electronic medical records.
  • Previous experience in a teaching hospital or academic setting.
