We are seeking an experienced AVP - Professional Liability Underwriter to join our US Financial Lines team at Brown & Brown. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in growing a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market Miscellaneous Professional Liability (and further PL expansion) business in the US.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess miscellaneous professional liability risks, with a primary focus on new business.
- Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms, and pricing.
- Partner with the VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.
- Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.
- Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.
- Represent Brown & Brown at networking functions and other industry-related events.
- Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional liability underwriting experience, with a focus in at least one of these areas: MPL, real estate, accountants, insurance agents, media, or tech.
- Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.
- Independent decision maker - takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.
- Knowledge of the professional liability external market.
- Established network of wholesale broker relationships.
- Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.
- Excellent growth and advancement opportunities.
