Job Purpose:
To oversee the cleaning staff's activities, ensuring that all rooms across multiple properties are maintained in a clean, orderly, and appealing manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather information on vacant rooms that require immediate cleaning and identify potential checkouts to prepare work assignments. Communicate with management and front desk personnel regarding room readiness.
  • Delegate tasks to staff and inspect their work to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards. Recognize employees who excel in meeting or surpassing guest expectations.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and linens to maintain adequate stock levels. Distribute supplies and equipment to team members.
  • Address concerns related to housekeeping services and equipment, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conduct inspections of rooms, hallways, and lobbies to assess the need for repairs or replacement of furnishings and equipment, providing recommendations to management.
  • Ensure the security of guest rooms and enforce proper key control procedures among housekeeping personnel.
  • Screen job candidates, onboard new hires, and recommend promotions, transfers, or terminations. Provide orientation and ongoing training to staff on company policies and housekeeping procedures.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance housekeeping skills and supervisory capabilities.
  • Maintain records related to work assignments, personnel actions, and timekeeping, preparing periodic reports as needed.
  • Engage in regular meetings with other department heads to discuss company policies, guest feedback, and suggestions for service improvement.
  • Assist in managing the housekeeping department's budget and controlling expenses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to apply common sense in executing instructions provided in various formats.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending instructions, safety protocols, and writing reports with correct grammar and structure.
  • Capable of determining the sequence of operations and interpreting work procedures for staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in a housekeeping role within a commercial setting, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews, select, and train staff.
  • Adjust staff pay rates and work hours.
  • Direct and evaluate staff performance.
  • Address employee concerns and implement disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Plan and allocate work among team members.
  • Determine necessary materials and supplies for operations.
  • Ensure the safety and security of staff and property.
  • Monitor compliance with legal regulations.
  • Regularly oversee the work of at least two full-time associates.
  • Possess authority to influence hiring, firing, and promotion decisions.

Working Conditions:
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, with the ability to see and hear clearly. The role involves frequent sitting, walking, and standing, with the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to work in close proximity to others.

  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 6-25 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in environments with fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to work near toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and irregular hours.
