Job Summary

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will perform medical sonography for OB/GYN procedure-based care and pregnancy viability at OHSU. This role promotes high-quality, cost-effective, family-oriented service and contributes to a collaborative environment by integrating education, research, and clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Perform abdominal and transvaginal OB/GYN scanning, including Dopplers and nuchal translucency.
Optimize each image during the examination to obtain the highest quality study with the least discomfort to the patient.
Assist the physician in invasive and/or specialized procedures, such as amniocentesis.
Provide quality real-time 2D, 3D, M Mode, and Doppler applications to acquire images, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved diagnostic medical sonography course that meets current qualifications to apply for and take ARDMS board examinations upon hire.
Candidates must be American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registered in OB/GYN and Abdomen within 12 months of hire date.
Must be licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.
Must have current approved CPR Card.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in general Ultrasound from an accredited school.
Ability to perform all phases of general diagnostic sonography.
Will consider new student graduates.
2 years in a large hospital or physician practice a plus.
Women's health experience a plus.
Good judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
Proficient in the use of various ultrasound units.
Able to demonstrate specific normal anatomy and abnormal pathology.
Have a working knowledge of ultrasound physics and principles.
RVT encouraged.
