Aquatics Director

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Director to lead our aquatic programs and services. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing high-quality aquatic programs that meet the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement aquatic programs that align with the YMCA's mission and strategic plans.
• Supervise and manage aquatic staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic program coordinators.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and staff in aquatic programs.
• Manage aquatic facilities, including pools, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
• Develop and manage budgets for aquatic programs and services.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of aquatic programs and services.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a leadership role, including supervision, program development, and fiscal management.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of current aquatic safety and program standards, latest trends in aquatics, and ability to articulate and incorporate them.

Certifications:

• Lifeguarding certification (ARC).
• American Red Cross First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer.
• AED, O2, and state-mandated concussion training.
• YSL, LGI (ARC) within 6 months of hire.
• YSL Trainer and completion of YMCA Aquatic Management (YAM) and POOL within 1 year of hire.
• Trainer level in another aquatics area (POOL, YAM, Water Fitness, AOA, Arthritis, Disabilities, Principles of Swimming and Diving, Swim Officials 1 & 2) within 2 years of hire.
