Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Fairfield Hospital. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer radionuclide therapy and prepare, perform QC, and dispense radiopharmaceuticals for off-hour procedures.
  • Perform urgent Nuclear Medicine procedures in an on-call status or in a single technologist staffing model.
  • Check orders for complete information and proper exam, and schedule exams as needed.
  • Obtain sufficient information to determine whether the exam should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.
  • Determine if additional technical support is required and follow the proper procedure for obtaining support.
  • Adhere to established section and organizational protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interact appropriately with patients and all care providers.
Requirements
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) (required)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience practicing Nuclear Medicine experience (preferred)
Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. May have periods of constant interruptions.
