Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at St. Josephs Hospital - Baycare Health System. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for examination and diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare tissue samples for examination and diagnosis using formalin, frozen section/tissues, grossing/fixation, and microtomy techniques.
  • Operate automated and manual microtomes, cryostats, and staining equipment to produce high-quality tissue sections.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of histological techniques and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient sample preparation.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate sample processing and diagnosis.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and laboratory standards.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in histology or a related field.
  • Formalin, frozen section/tissues grossing/fixation experience required.
  • Automated/Manual microtome, cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat experience required.
  • Staining experience required (Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS), IHC Staining).
  • Microtomy of frozen sections embedding/microtomy experience preferred.
  • Special requirements: Roche Ventana Ultra, Benchmark Special Stainer equipment experience.
  • Outpatient, inpatient lab work setting experience required.
  • Cerner EMR preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position working 5x8s, 22:30-07:00. Weekend requirements and on-call requirements will be discussed in the interview. The position is open to accommodating a block schedule. Locals are accepted.
