Job Title: Licensed Counselor - African American Community

Join the Houston Area Women's Center team as a Licensed Counselor - African American Community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Counselor to provide culturally relevant services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. As a Licensed Counselor - African American Community, you will be responsible for facilitating group and individual counseling services in all HAWC locations, including Survivor Empowerment Hubs in the Houston community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide group and individual counseling services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community-based locations to reduce barriers commonly encountered by individuals within this population
  • Provide training to incoming staff, volunteers, and community partners on domestic and sexual violence survivors
  • Work cooperatively with other staff to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program
  • Mandatory Reporting: report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services when appropriate
  • Advocate at HAWC and other agencies on behalf of adults and children
  • Communicate concerns about clients to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate records and appropriate documentation of services
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or counseling
  • Licensed by the State of Texas and in good standing: LMSW, LMFT-A, LCSW-A, or LPC-A
  • Entry Level- internship experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly
  • Strong data-entry skills

  • Starting Pay Rate: $63,407.28 annually
