Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Technician to join our team at North Carolina Jobs. As an Electrical Systems Technician, you will be responsible for performing electrical services to maintain a functional and safe learning environment for students, staff, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use voltage meters to test for current and conductivity.
  • Install, maintain, alter, and repair wiring.
  • Install conduit, pull wire, and make connections.
  • Install and connect equipment to wiring systems.
  • Replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Replace faulty electrical components.
  • Determine and request type and quantities of materials needed.
  • Observe and monitor contracted work as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed.
  • Assist other employees/trades as needed.
  • Maintain and record material purchases and man-hour expenditures.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in the electrical trade.
  • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years' experience working in the electrical field or a combination of experience and technical school training.
  • Must hold a valid NC driver's license.
