About the Position

Graham Windham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Homefinding Supervisor to lead and manage the organization's work in assessing, onboarding, and developing a strong pool of foster and adoptive parents. The successful candidate will support the Foster Parent recruitment team and the Recruitment, Develop, and Support (RDS) Director as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Certification: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards promulgated by the New York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS) and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
  • Certification and Recertification: Conduct thorough and timely certification and recertification processes, including background checks, home safety assessments, and continuous training.
  • Foster Parent Support: Ensure that foster and adoptive parents attend to the physical and emotional well-being of the children placed in their homes and that children are placed appropriately in safe, nurturing foster homes based on their development needs.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: Partner with the Family Foster Care & Adoption Program's Case Management team to ensure seamless support for foster parents and children.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate foster parent training, identifying and scheduling training specific to the needs of children in foster care, including child development, adolescent behavior, behavior management, navigation of DOE and OMH programs, parenting children/youth with mental/behavioral health disorders, etc.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver MAPP, Deciding Together, and individual Foster Parent training as needed; track training with the assistance of a case aide.
  • Child Placement and Support: Oversee acceptance of children for placement in Graham's Foster Care Program and identify new homes for children in need of replacement.
  • Intake Support: Support the RDS Director in ensuring that an Intake staff is available to answer OPA phone calls 24/7.
  • Decision-Making and Communication: Ensure that Intake staff make consistent decisions regarding acceptance of children, and are honest and respectful in communication with foster parents.
  • Supervision and Support: Provide formal and informal supportive, programmatic & clinical supervision to each team member; holds individual supervision on a bi-weekly basis and team meetings on a monthly basis.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years experience in Homefinding; 3 years of Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Certifications: MAPP Leader Certified; Knowledge of Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (MAPP) and Mini-MAPP curricula.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of internal and external State and City regulations and policies applicable to foster care and adoption; including foster Home certification/approval and re-certification/re-approval in particular.
  • Technical Skills: Computer literate and familiar with the NYS OCFS's CONNECTIONS system.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, oral and written; good public presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Intake and Foster Parent Recruitment: Knowledge of Intake and Foster Parent Recruitment.
  • Language Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; team-oriented; ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Language Preference: Spanish fluency is a plus.
