We are seeking an experienced Operator and Maintenance Technician to join our team at Old North State Water Co, Inc in Raleigh, NC. As a Certified Water Specialist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment facilities and distribution systems to ensure the delivery of clean and safe drinking water to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and operate water treatment facilities and distribution systems.
  2. Perform regular inspections and tests on systems and facilities' operations.
  3. Collect and analyze water samples for regulatory compliance and process control monitoring.
  4. Prepare reports for PWS, the Company, EPA, and other jurisdictional entities.
  5. Respond to customer service, water distribution, water quality, and system work orders.
  6. Maintain accurate records, log books, and bench sheets.
  7. Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
  8. Monitor and sample well and groundwater upon entry to the system.
  9. Detect and report atypical conditions, such as damaged, malfunctioning, and tampered meters.
  10. Conduct ongoing repairs to equipment or shut down equipment for more extensive maintenance and repair.
  11. Activate pumps, valves, and other processing equipment to move water through various treatment processes.
  12. Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and standards.
  13. Maintain a safe working environment and report safety concerns to Supervisor and/or Area Manager.
  14. Travel daily between worksites on Company time.
  15. Work On-Call in rotation as scheduled; respond to emergency situations as required.
  16. Assist with ground keeping

Requirements:

  • C-Well certification or equivalent certification from a recognized accrediting agency (preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience working in water treatment and distribution
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and regulations
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of water treatment equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year

Location: Raleigh, NC
