Reports To: Accounting Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

This role is open to all qualified individuals regardless of sex, race, age, color, religion, national origin, or disability.

Position Objective:

The Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining comprehensive financial records to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, income and expenses, tax obligations, and other related financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct analysis and reconciliation of assigned General Ledger accounts.
  • Manage the review and maintenance of Certificates of Insurance.
  • Identify and rectify daily discrepancies between inventory and supporting data.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and payable with their respective subsidiary records.
  • Align monthly sales reports with the general ledger.
  • Prepare and post necessary journal entries.
  • Review monthly costs associated with maintenance parts.
  • Compile monthly reports for state and federal milk regulations.
  • Establish cost structures for milk purchase orders.
  • Generate intercompany financial reports on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile third-party billings related to employee benefits with the general ledger.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting.
  • Analyze clearing accounts and correct discrepancies.
  • Maintain a detailed analysis of utility expenses.
  • Produce monthly operational reports.
  • Perform banking duties as assigned.
  • Prepare annual ethics correspondence for vendors and buyers.
  • Initiate and complete the annual review of maintenance parts for obsolescence.
  • File the annual State unclaimed property report.
  • Assist external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for the annual audit.
  • Manage monthly rebate accruals and reconciliations.
  • Stay informed about acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of general financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, along with accounting software.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
