About the Role

The International Association of Venue Managers, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Membership Sales Professional to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for acquiring new members from a diverse range of public assembly venues and product/service provider organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Membership Sales and Growth: Develop and execute effective sales strategies to increase membership numbers across all categories, including Professional, Young Professional, Allied, Faculty, and Student memberships.
  • Lead Generation and Research: Identify and research potential leads to expand our prospect list, and leverage IAVM resources to stimulate interest across all regions and sectors.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with potential clients to convert them into members, and tailor your pitch to meet the needs of each prospect.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Create and execute effective marketing campaigns to promote membership benefits and attract new members, and analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular reports and updates on membership sales and service activities, and collaborate with staff members to leverage existing education programs, training, events, research, and other services available in the acquisition of new members.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of association membership, marketing, or sales experience preferred.
  • Degree preferred in Marketing, Business Management, Sports Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with sales or membership databases, specifically association management software or customer relationship management systems (CRMs).
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Focused, goal-oriented, and ambitious self-starter.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work well with different personalities is key along with the ability to communicate to various levels within an organization.
