About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist 2 to join our team at J. E. Dunn Construction Group. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, clients, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects.
  • Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits on assigned projects, identifying and documenting hazardous conditions and recommending abatement measures.
  • Monitor the implementation of prime contractor and/or subcontractors' safety programs.
  • Attend project pre-planning, progress, and other relevant meetings to discuss safety-related matters.
  • Support field leadership in the implementation of the safety program, including chairing project safety committees.
  • Assist in the investigation of project-related accidents and provide recommendations for changes in work processes to eliminate recurrence.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Possess a higher level of safety knowledge to identify complex safety issues and provide solutions.
  • Utilize a higher level of knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes to provide project-specific safety recommendations.
  • Contribute to trend analysis to identify safety trends and provide recommended solutions to mitigate future occurrences.
  • Provide guidance and training on basic and intermediate safety-related topics for new or existing safety and project team personnel.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of construction safety experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety and health-related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and company safety software/programs.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Ability to build relationships with team members and collaborate within a team.
