Key Responsibilities- Perform process studies to identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and energy efficiency
- Presents results to management both verbally and in written reports
- Execute capital projects managing schedule, scope and costs following PMP principles
- Manage project finances, with a strong control of scope and schedule deviations
- Reports on capital projects to management and senior management regarding current activities and forecast
- Develop capital investments projects following the appropriate stage gate methodology, managing the complete life cycle of the project
- Diagnose process deficiencies and create design improvements
- Develop, with the input from all stakeholders, clear project concepts, budgets, scope and detailed schedules
- Evaluate process schemes from operating data as needed
- Prepare process datasheets for equipment and instrumentation
- Update and maintain documentation such as material balances, P&IDs, and automation functional descriptions
- Manage detailed engineering from third-party full-service engineering companies
- Safety, Health and Environmental Performance
- Demonstrate safety leadership in day-to-day activities and by incorporation in process designs
- Gatekeeper for the process aspects of Management of Change
- Educate and coach operations and maintenance personnel to facilitate understanding of new processes
- Participate in process safety reviews
- Assist the Safety and Environmental Manager as necessary by implementing environmental improvement initiatives
- Additional responsibilities
- Provide oversight of contractor(s) process design performance
- Measure of contractor performance against schedule, cost and quality of work
- Participate in planning for plant commissioning & start-up
- Provide consulting on process questions as a member of the start-up team
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical Preferred)
- Strong preference for manufacturing plant-based work environment
- Minimum 10 years' experience in project-based engineering with a focus on capital project execution
- Excellent understanding and ability to apply fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid transport and reactionary chemistry equipment
- Process control and automation knowledge
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Track record of successfully meeting schedule deadlines
- Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time to US and foreign destinations
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US, now and in the future, without sponsorship
- Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, AutoCAD and Procore
- Demonstrated ability for development of reports and presentations to management
- Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
The job is performed in an office and manufacturing environment. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke may occur. Protective safety equipment is required including appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and goggles as needed. Activities include extended periods of standing and extensive work with various devices and heavy machinery.
Physical RequirementsAbility to communicate (verbal and written) with management and other co-workers is important. Regular use of a variety of measuring tools, the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Standing or sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information. Heavy lifting is required intermittently. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally is required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment.
