Job Summary

This is a Trailer Mechanic and Welder position with Universal Truck Service LLC, a company built on great service and quality. The ideal candidate will have intermediate to advanced skills in welding and trailer repair, with a strong mechanical ability and knowledge of electronics and precision equipment.

The job involves inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance on tanker, asphalt, and specialty trailers, as well as performing safety inspections and preparing safety documents. The candidate will also be responsible for repairing and replacing minor interior and exterior equipment components, testing repaired equipment, and ensuring that the work meets manufacturer's specifications and legislated regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to use hand tools and test equipment. They will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be self-starting and organized, and have a strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills.

The job requires the ability to work in confined space environments, lift approximately 70 lbs, and comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct. The candidate will also be required to pass a welding test, a pre-employment drug screen, and a criminal history background check.

Requirements

  • Ability to install, maintain, and diagnose liftgate components
  • Ability to maintain, replace, and adjust frame and suspension components and air and brake system components
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
