Position Summary
This role is integral to the mission of the YMCA, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community through youth development, health promotion, and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Sports Director, the official will oversee practices and competitions, ensuring adherence to the YMCA's child care policies and objectives, while directing each event in alignment with the mission of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio and the standards set by relevant regulatory bodies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Officiate sports events across all levels of YMCA sports programming, including managing time and coordinating parent volunteers for scorekeeping when necessary. Possess a solid understanding of game regulations and responsibilities, and participate in sport-specific training as required. Monitor and address any inappropriate behavior during events. Ensure participant safety and engagement in line with YMCA policies and procedures. Provide answers to inquiries or connect with others who can assist. Foster communication with parents, players, and coaches. Enforce all YMCA rules and regulations. Stay updated on any changes to game and practice schedules. Respond promptly to emergencies. Maintain cleanliness of facility locations. Exhibit a courteous and friendly demeanor, serving as a positive role model. Attend all relevant training sessions and meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

Must be at least 16 years old. Understand the fundamental principles of various sports programs, including basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships by promoting caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff, YMCA members, and program participants. Capability to relate effectively to children and parents. Exhibit professionalism and courtesy towards program participants. Adhere to YMCA policies and decisions in a supportive manner. Ability to intervene in conflict situations. Serve as a primary responder in emergencies. Required certifications within the first week of employment: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Communications. Required certifications within the first 60 days of employment: YMCA-approved basic life-saving skills, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic outdoor setting and may involve off-site locations. Visual acuity is necessary for monitoring potential hazards for children. The role demands high levels of alertness and concentration. Must be capable of physically intervening in situations that may pose safety risks. Ability to make sound decisions and judgments, even amidst distractions. Repetitive bending and lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Effective communication skills are essential, including the ability to hear, speak, and understand others, as well as proficiency in using keyboards and writing instruments.
