Child Welfare Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all minors involved in the foster care initiative.
- Request essential documentation such as birth certificates and social security cards.
- Connect clients with community resources and services to support their needs.
- Provide administrative support by managing the reception area and assisting the Executive Office as required.
- Transport children to and from educational institutions during transitional periods.
- Accompany clients to various appointments and advocate for their service needs.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the foster care initiative.
- Maintain ongoing communication with service providers.
- Conduct home visits with families as needed.
- Oversee Family Time interactions between children and their families.
- Support clients in completing applications for essential services such as public assistance and fair hearings.
- Document case notes in the designated foster care record system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
- Self-driven, organized, empathetic, and innovative.
- Familiarity with child welfare and family court systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Understanding and respect for diverse community needs and cultures.
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural families.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with both children and adults.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to travel within the metropolitan area.
- Capacity to maintain composure and perform well under pressure.
- Valid NYS driver's license.
