Responsibilities
The RN Infection Control Coordinator will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and preventing the spread of hospital-associated infections among patients and healthcare personnel. This includes:
- Conducting concurrent infection control surveillance and utilizing targeted patient and employee surveillance indicators
- Aggregating and analyzing infection control data and presenting to appropriate audiences
- Developing and implementing a system for identifying, investigating, and preventing the spread of hospital-associated infections
- Maintaining accurate records of hospital-associated infections among patients
- Conferring with staff nurses and medical staff to determine occurrence of hospital-acquired infections
- Investigating infections, especially those occurring above established thresholds and/or in clusters by patient units
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the RN Infection Control Coordinator must have:
- Current RN licensure in the State of Tennessee
- Current BLS Certification upon hire
- Minimum of 2 years experience in infection control practice in a hospital setting preferred
- Certification by the Board of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology, preferred
