Position Overview

YWCA Princeton is dedicated to fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every individual feels valued and recognized for their contributions.

We are seeking a passionate individual to fulfill the role of Family Liaison for our preschool programs.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting all facets of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center (TBFECC) and the preschool expansion initiative in collaboration with Princeton Public School (PPS). The role adheres to the guidelines set forth by YWCA Princeton, the NJ Department of Children and Families' Office of Licensing, Grow NJ Kids, and other relevant local and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of TBFECC and PPS preschool programs, serving as a reliable point of contact for families and staff.
  • Assist in various programs as necessary, including substitute teaching and emergency drills.
  • Ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements as mandated by NJDFC and other regulatory bodies, supporting the Director of Childcare with documentation.
  • Develop and maintain essential documents and spreadsheets for TBFECC and PPS, including applications for financial assistance and updates to relevant systems.
  • Provide support to children and families in both educational and home environments, facilitating access to resources and advocating for families with special needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with families involved in TBFECC and PPS to foster a supportive community.
  • Encourage collaboration among families and staff, assisting with communication through letters and phone calls.
  • Manage visitor reception at TBFECC, including phone inquiries and mail distribution.
  • Coordinate efforts between TBFECC and PPS to ensure smooth operations.
  • Address transportation needs for students in collaboration with PPS.
  • Organize and participate in annual events, including home visits and family group meetings.
  • Create and manage transition folders for pre-K students and oversee online registration processes.
  • Support childcare during alumni events hosted by Princeton University.
  • Conduct family surveys and produce reports to track attendance and create necessary rosters.
  • Assist in promoting multicultural events within the center.
  • Plan and execute the Scholastic Book Fair biannually.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Marketing departments as required.
  • Complete 20 hours of professional development annually.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Childcare.

Qualifications

  • Supervisors must possess at least a CDA or equivalent qualifications in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with school administrators, parents, children, and staff.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with a positive and proactive approach.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, with adaptability to new technologies.
  • Dependable, capable of working independently, managing multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated administrative and supervisory capabilities.
  • Exhibit initiative, flexibility, and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Preferred certification in First Aid and CPR, which can be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Exemplary customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both orally and in writing.
