This position plays a vital role in supporting all facets of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center (TBFECC) and the preschool expansion initiative in collaboration with Princeton Public Schools (PPS). The responsibilities align with YWCA Princeton's policies and adhere to the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Children and Families' Office of Licensing, Grow NJ Kids, and relevant health regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of TBFECC and PPS preschool programs, serving as a reliable point of contact for families and staff.
- Assist in various programs, including substituting and conducting safety drills as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with record-keeping standards as mandated by the NJ Department of Children and Families and support the Director of Childcare in maintaining accurate documentation.
- Develop and manage essential documents and spreadsheets related to program operations, including applications for fee/reduced lunch and updates to management systems.
- Provide support to children and families in both educational and home environments, facilitating access to resources and advocating for those with additional needs.
- Engage in regular communication with families to keep them informed and connected.
- Encourage collaboration among families and staff, offering assistance through written correspondence and direct communication.
- Oversee visitor management at the TBFECC entrance, including phone inquiries and mail distribution.
- Coordinate activities between TBFECC and PPS preschool to ensure smooth operations.
- Address transportation needs for students in collaboration with PPS.
- Organize and participate in annual events, including home visits and family meetings.
- Maintain pre-K transition documentation and assist with online registration processes.
- Support childcare initiatives during special events, such as alumni weekends.
- Conduct family surveys and compile reports on student attendance and program participation.
- Contribute to the MultiCultural Events Calendar to promote inclusivity.
- Plan and execute the Scholastic Book Fair during designated seasons.
- Collaborate with Finance and Marketing departments as required.
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Childcare.
Qualifications
- Supervisors must possess at least a CDA or equivalent qualifications in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with a positive and proactive approach.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, is necessary.
- Dependability, independence, multitasking abilities, and strong problem-solving skills are required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Demonstrated administrative and supervisory capabilities are preferred.
- Exhibit initiative, flexibility, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred but can be obtained post-hire.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a professional demeanor are essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both orally and in writing, is advantageous.
