The Payroll Operations Coordinator is tasked with overseeing and executing the payroll functions of the organization with accuracy and effectiveness. This position guarantees that all personnel receive their compensation correctly and punctually, adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, authenticate, and input employee information (such as hours worked, leave, and deductions) into the payroll system.
- Administer bi-weekly, weekly, or monthly payroll cycles, ensuring precision and punctuality.
- Compute salaries, benefits, bonuses, and deductions for employees.
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws and company protocols.
- Maintain precise payroll records and employee data within the payroll system.
- Update the payroll system with new hires, terminations, and modifications to pay rates.
- Reconcile payroll before transmission and verify confirmed reports.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax documentation (including quarterly and annual filings).
- Remain informed about updates in payroll legislation and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist with both internal and external payroll audits.
- Address employee inquiries concerning payroll, deductions, benefits, and leave balances.
- Provide payroll-related information to employees upon request.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to rectify any payroll discrepancies.
- Identify potential enhancements and efficiencies within payroll processes.
- Engage in payroll system upgrades and testing.
- Educate and support staff on payroll-related issues as necessary.
Qualifications:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
- Familiarity with payroll software.
- Experience with multistate and union payroll.
- Understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations.
