We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Southcoast Health System, Inc. as a Patient Care Specialist. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our clinical team, ensuring a positive experience for our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care and support to our clinical team, including assisting with medical procedures and tests.
- Facilitate efficient patient flow through the clinic or medical office, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers, including sharing test results and providing counseling and follow-up care.
- Utilize electronic medical records and other software to update and access patient information, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to provide comprehensive care and support to patients, including medical interpretation and translation services.
- Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training.
- National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification) is required within thirteen (13) months of hire as a non-certified Medical Assistant.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience, is required.
- BLS certification is also required.
- Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
- One (1) year of medical assistance work experience is preferred.
- Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting is preferred.
- Other certifications, based on practice specialty may be preferred.
