Job Summary

As a Clinical Support Specialist at Highmark Health, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support between patients and physicians. This position requires a strong nursing background and excellent communication skills to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and test results, reviewing results with physicians and ensuring patient communication regarding results and/or recommendations per physician order.
  • Assess health status/needs during ambulatory visits or over the phone, using interviewing skills and nursing knowledge to formulate and communicate an action plan.
  • Coordinate and schedule all patient testing, including surgeries, and coordinate OR schedules, assessing blood work prior to surgery.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and families, providing education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
  • Provide clinical support during office hours, ensuring timely and effective patient care.

Requirements

  • Nursing School Diploma required
  • Current PA licensure as an RN
  • 2 years experience as a surgical RN required
  • CPR - American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree preferred
  • Experience as an RN in the area of specialty, ambulatory experience, cardiovascular experience, and outpatient setting experience preferred.
