Medical Laboratory Specialist

This role is responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and be able to work independently to provide quality clinical information.
Key Responsibilities:
• Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
• Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation.
• Recognizes problems with quality control and test procedures and takes appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information.
• Provides oversight and mentors laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, students, and new employees in laboratory testing following system policies and procedures.
• Serves as a consultant to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and other healthcare providers as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in an ASCP eligible program.
• MLS, MT, Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification, required within 1 year of hire (if located in Pennsylvania).
• 1 to 2 years of clinical laboratory experience (preferred).
