We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a key member of our medical office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Secure and verify patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accurate data entry into our computer system.
- Perform initial telephone triage and screening, referring patients to appropriate medical professionals as needed.
- Schedule patients for appointments, procedures, and specialist consults, ensuring timely and efficient communication with our healthcare team.
- Collect point-of-service co-pays and payments on account, balancing cash drawers and ensuring accuracy of bank deposits.
- Organize and maintain patient charts, obtaining necessary consent forms and ensuring confidentiality of patient records.
- Review visit data, determine appropriate ICD-9 codes, and verify CPT codes, entering data into our computer system.
- Enter billing charges into our computer system, retrieving data and running reports as needed.
- Perform receptionist and file clerk duties, as well as general office correspondence.
- May be required to float to other departments based on staffing needs.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Medical terminology, ICD-9, and CPT coding experience required.
- Computer/typing skills of at least 40 wpm required.
- Medical secretary, medical assistant program graduate, or medical office experience (minimum of one year) required.
- Legible handwriting required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, with ability to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and office staff.
