Position Overview

The CT Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in conducting CT scans that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of our young patients. This position is essential in upholding the mission and values of our organization while ensuring the highest quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in CT imaging techniques and the operation of related equipment and information systems (RIS/HIS/PACS). Ensure accurate patient identification and image documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage CT examinations to maintain quality and continuity of care, including scheduling for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cases.
  • Participate in emergency call rotations and archive CT images appropriately in PACS.
  • Maintain precise documentation for departmental and hospital records, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Provide clear and compassionate instructions to patients and their families regarding the CT examination process.
  • Screen patients for any contraindications that may pose risks to their health and communicate findings to the radiologist.
  • Engage in the training and orientation of new staff and students as required.
  • Actively contribute to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives within the CT department.
  • Stay updated on advancements in CT technology and procedures through continuous education and professional development.

Educational Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in CT imaging is preferred, with a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy. Pediatric experience is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with colleagues, patients, and their families.

Licensure and Certification

  • ARRT certification is required, along with a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A valid state license is mandatory, and ARRT registration in CT must be obtained within two years of employment.
