Position Overview
The Senior Director of Risk Management is tasked with the effective administration of the Risk Management Program across affiliated healthcare facilities. This role includes supervising the incident reporting system and the subsequent review process, ensuring proper follow-up on events, classification of patient care events, adherence to regulatory standards, and reporting obligations to the insurance provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management Coordination: Lead risk management initiatives to optimize available resources, effectively manage risk, and integrate safety enhancement strategies throughout the healthcare network.
- Loss Control Initiatives: Identify and implement strategies aimed at minimizing risks and enhancing safety and quality of care.
- Incident Response Management: Oversee the organization’s response to significant incidents; conduct thorough reviews of circumstances, medical records, and documentation; preserve evidence; interview involved personnel; and ensure the development and monitoring of corrective action plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Facilitate on-site regulatory visits and respond to inquiries regarding patient complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Patient Relations Management: Supervise the complaints and grievance process, ensuring adherence to licensing standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with clinical leadership to proactively manage patient concerns and grievances.
- Education and Training: Provide education to team members about the role of risk management and promote its accessibility as a resource. Conduct in-service training for nursing and medical staff based on identified needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Licensure is mandatory.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in a complex healthcare environment is essential.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
