Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Spaulding Hospital-Boston & Cambridge(SRN,SRH,SHC). As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound procedures, selecting proper imaging techniques, and operating ultrasound-imaging equipment to acquire high-quality images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient identification and prepare patients for exams, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Review patient charts to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data to ensure accurate interpretation of ultrasound examinations.
  • Explain exams to patients, taking into consideration their physical and emotional needs, and maintaining ethical standards of patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Deliver patient care under the scope of your license and training, utilizing universal precaution techniques and safety protocols specific to patient status.
  • Perform ultrasound studies on pediatric patients, demonstrating knowledge of illnesses related to this patient population and the various types of care being provided.
  • Maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and hospital personnel, executing paperwork, PACS, RIS, EPIC, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam.
  • Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use, stocking and supplying rooms and general department areas as needed.
  • May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department, acknowledging and participating in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Assume all responsibilities for on-call coverage and remain flexible in shift coverage and overtime situations as necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or equivalent.
  • Become registered in all institution-accredited specialties, with the first specialty or additional specialty completed within one year of start of employment.
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills using the English language.
  • High level of service delivery, demonstrating initiative, prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing situations.
  • Problem-solving skills for treatment planning and execution, taking into consideration patient age, psychosocial, and cultural background.
  • Computer proficiency, with Microsoft Office applications preferred and ability to learn new software.
Skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, necessary to understand and exchange information with patients and hospital staff.
  • Manual dexterity to adjust machine controls, arrange, attach, and adjust supportive devices.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and ultrasound equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory images by following set procedures and standards.
