Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in promoting and maintaining patient health throughout the healthcare continuum. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting thorough health assessments and identifying health characteristics.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans while continuously evaluating care outcomes.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to manage patient care across various settings.
  • Adhering to the Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to sit, stand, lift, or walk for extended periods.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in oncology services, including laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Ability to make rounds in selected hospital systems.
  • Collaboration with covering physicians for patient needs in the hospital.
  • Participation in after-hours coverage as required.
  • Ability to write prescriptions and perform office procedures within established protocols.
  • Conducting physical exams and obtaining comprehensive medical histories.
  • Administering medications and injections in compliance with state regulations.
  • Providing patient education regarding medications and treatments.
  • Collaborating with physicians for ongoing patient care.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and compiling necessary reports.
  • Engaging in professional development to stay current with healthcare practices.
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Completion of an approved Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Acute Care certification is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience and two years as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • At least one year of experience in an oncology department or clinic.
  • Current licensure as an ANP or FNP.
  • Active registered nurse license.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of professional nursing theory and practices.
  • Proficiency in using medical equipment for patient care.
  • Familiarity with oncology-related medical terminology.
  • Awareness of safety hazards and precautions in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to apply nursing principles and techniques effectively.
Working Conditions: The role involves a combination of clinical and office environments, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards typical in an oncology setting.

Physical and Mental Demands: The position requires a full range of motion, manual dexterity, and the ability to manage stress in a dynamic healthcare environment.
