Server Infrastructure Specialist

Systemtec is currently seeking a Server Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for the operational technology server infrastructure and associated applications that support our plant and field control systems. As a member of ICS Technology, this position will work to provide 7x24 operational and life cycle technology support for our ICS server related infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and administer physical and virtual servers, Windows Server and Ubuntu Server operating systems, install hardware and software upgrades and patches, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Additional responsibilities may include business continuity/disaster recovery planning and testing, administering systems such as VMWare vSphere, VEEAM, Dell iDRAC, Ubuntu Landscape, centralized and multi-factor authentication administration, etc., complex implementation projects, and training or reviewing the work of lower levels in the career family.
  • Act as subject matter expert for server virtualization (VMware), server data protection, database management and disaster recovery capabilities by implementing and managing VMware and Veeam server, data, and application replication technologies.
  • Administer and maintain operating system patching systems such as Ubuntu Landscape and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Evaluate and implement operating system upgrades. Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current server architecture.
  • Analyze issues and implement solutions to improve existing configurations and prevent downtime.
  • Perform system administration, including account management, storage management and performance tuning.
  • Monitor and respond to any ICS server issues. Resolve trouble tickets, respond to alerts for servers and replace failed devices or components.
  • Monitor system capacities and make recommendations for system enhancement and expansion.
  • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for ICS servers.
  • Develop and oversee all disaster recovery aspects for all elements of ICS servers.
  • Plan, design, implement, and administer ICS server infrastructure including SQL database servers. Monitor and respond to server alerts or usability concerns.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to include technical specifications, server architecture drawings, scopes of work, user procedures and processes, and user training materials.
  • Work with ICS Technology and stakeholders to plan and implement new data sharing infrastructure.
  • Stay abreast of current technology trends, developments, and best practices; make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing short and long-term goals related to ICS technology, providing recommendation and cost estimates regarding upgrades.
  • Review all proposed upgrades and designs of system components for applicability and compatibility with existing systems and standards.
  • Create, maintain, and execute procedures to collect, monitor, and assess ICS performance data as part of a preventive maintenance program.
  • Analyze, extract, combine, interpret, and summarize data from various sources to generate analytical reports in tabular and/or graphical form for operational, management, or executive ICS server related decisions.

Requirements:

  • Must have ICS/SCADA/OT experience.
  • At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an associate degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the design and configuration of a variety of services and operating systems, including virtualization as well as data center operations.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
