Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Philosophy courses at our Kingwood campus. As a member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and contributing to the academic excellence of our institution.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about teaching, has a strong commitment to academic excellence, and is able to create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Philosophy or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Philosophy. They will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students and colleagues.

This is a part-time position, with a maximum of five classes per academic year. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year, and instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.

Responsibilities

The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for:

  1. Teaching Philosophy courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  3. Submitting required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  4. Utilizing a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  5. Maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  6. Attending meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

The successful candidate will also be expected to demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.


Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Master's degree in Philosophy or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Philosophy. They must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students and colleagues.
