About the Role

The South Bend Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing triage and management of office flow to meet patient's medical and service needs, ensuring optimal patient flow and satisfaction.
  • Perform the technical component of clinical procedures competently, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Document all patient care thoroughly, objectively, and concisely, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Communicate patient care effectively, using clear and concise language, and adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Receive patients professionally in the waiting area and room them according to department protocol, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs for equipment, including refrigerator temperature, autoclave, eyewash, and crash cart, to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage for pre-certification, referrals, and authorizations, and document in NextGen, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Apply knowledge of general insurance guidelines and requirements to direct patient care, ensuring optimal outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Cross-train in other positions as determined by the manager, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit proficiency in computer systems and software, as necessary, to perform job functions effectively.
  • Demonstrate the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards, embodying our commitment to excellence and patient-centered care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and Clinic policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of patient care.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or non-certified with MA experience.
  • Team player, professional, and customer service oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Proficient computer skills, including EMR, with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with diverse patient populations of all ages, adapting to individual needs and preferences.
  • Assist with clinical procedures specific to the department, performing basic back office skills, including medication administration, injections, bandaging, and accurately collecting height, weight, and BP.
  • Able to anticipate the needs of the physician and require minimal supervision, demonstrating independence and initiative.
  • Prior experience is a plus, but not required.
