Position Summary

We are currently seeking a meticulous and experienced Low Voltage Security Systems Designer to enhance our expanding federal government portfolio. This role offers the flexibility of remote work with occasional travel for client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

In this capacity, you will be responsible for developing engineering designs that support federal programs, including:

  • Designing physical security systems, encompassing access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and communication systems.
  • Participating in site surveys before and after project awards.
  • Collaborating independently and within an engineering team.
Essential Duties
  • Designing integrated security systems and creating comprehensive cost proposals in response to RFPs.
  • Producing network diagrams and conduit plans for low voltage systems and IP-based security devices.
  • Evaluating and applying standard engineering techniques and criteria for security system adaptations.
  • Reviewing project scopes, bid drawings, and specifications to ensure thorough understanding and compliance.
  • Generating detailed installation drawing packages that meet customer specifications while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Creating and reviewing engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams and device schedules.
  • Providing technical guidance to installation teams and addressing inquiries related to system integration.
  • Conducting security analyses and fieldwork to validate existing conditions against proposed designs.
  • Preparing preliminary sketches for final CAD drawings and ensuring accuracy in the final outputs.
  • Coordinating with vendors and consultants to maintain up-to-date knowledge of security products and trends.
  • Documenting engineering narratives and operational concepts.
  • Willingness to travel domestically for client engagements as required.
Technical Proficiencies

Familiarity with electronic security systems, including:
  • FIPS-201-2, HSDP-12, FICAMS standards.
  • Designing complex security systems for federal clients.
  • Physical Access Control and Video Management Systems.
  • Networking design principles.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in low voltage security systems engineering or design, along with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Alternatively, 3 years of relevant experience plus an Associate's Degree or higher in a related discipline.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with federal government projects.
