Job Summary:

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of outbound shipments to customers and other distribution areas within the organization. This role requires a strong focus on safety, security, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-employment interviews for prospective new drivers to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
  • Prepare and issue yearly performance reviews for route drivers to promote productivity and growth.
  • Direct and supervise the work of drivers to ensure efficient delivery routes and schedules.
  • Ensure all drivers are properly trained in job duties, safety protocols, and legal responsibilities.
  • Anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot problems with deliveries, devising cost-effective and legal solutions.
  • Schedule drivers for routes based on division methodology to optimize delivery efficiency.
  • Conduct routine safety and driver meetings to promote a culture of safety and open communication.
  • Encourage upward communication and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance of driver files and investigate all accidents to identify causes and implement preventative measures.
  • Organize and load product for delivery, utilizing the manifest to ensure efficient delivery routes and schedules.
  • Gather necessary paperwork for deliveries to ensure accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Minimum of 3 years of transportation/delivery experience required.
  • Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates.
  • Must be able to use and learn to use all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of state regulations as they pertain to NC transportation laws and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with customers face-to-face.
  • Must be a team player and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to work within tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
