Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead coastal permitting projects and tasks in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other nearby states.
  • Review and interpret federal, state, and local regulations to apply to a range of client operations, equipment, and circumstances.
  • Conduct alternative analyses to document avoidance and minimization measures for unavoidable impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop all required application materials and coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and company staff, including providing technical support/oversight to team members.
  • Lead consultation efforts with commenting agencies such as SHPO, NMFS, USFWS.
  • Support the completion of environmental reviews in accordance with NEPA/SEQR/CEQR/CEPA processes.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, including surveyors, sampling contractors, and testing laboratories.
  • Respond to requests from clients or regulators on data or information provided in communications, reports, etc.
  • Develop new business and assist in the preparation of project proposals associated with permitting, dredging, sustainability, coastal resiliency, and nature-based shorelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in environmental or coastal engineering, marine science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of NYSDEC, NJDEP, CT DEEP, OLISP, USACE, NYSDOS, NYSOGS, NYCDCP, and NYCSBS processes essential. Additional city, state, and federal agency experience a plus.
  • Business development experience with developers, contractors, and city, state, and federal agencies a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, GIS, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • 6 to 15 years of directly applicable marine and coastal regulatory and permitting experience.

Base Annual Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000
