Job Summary

This role provides front-line support for molding and assembly production lines, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities. The successful candidate will determine the most efficient methods and sequences of manufacturing operations for moderately complex products, machined parts, and assemblies, ensuring that products and processes meet customer quality, delivery, and responsiveness requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting input from production personnel
  2. Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment
  3. Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production
  4. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  5. Assure process control and reliability for assigned areas
  6. Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods
  7. Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor standards, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements
  8. Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  9. Presents findings and underlying rationale to Engineering, Production, suppliers, or customers
Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field required

Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through two or more years of related experience and Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) certification desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering principles, concepts, and general business operations
  • General knowledge of electrical power connectors or similar electromechanical interconnect systems for high-voltage applications
  • Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM (Pro-E desirable) systems or other computer-aided manufacturing systems
  • Ability to work on a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings, technical manuals, and policies
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management
