Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Clinician II to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. This is a 36 hour per week, night shift position that requires a high level of expertise in respiratory care.

Responsibilities
  • Administer various forms of respiratory modalities in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and support patients on mechanical ventilation, providing respiratory support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required.
  • Assist physicians and anesthesia during intubations, and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopies and percutaneous dilatational tracheotomies at the bedside.
  • Establish treatment plans and modify therapy according to department protocols for bronchodilator therapy and chest physical therapy techniques.
  • Obtain arterial blood gases and perform radial and brachial artery blood draws to obtain blood samples for gas analysis.
  • Set up and monitor equipment for ventilatory support, pulse oximetry, and oxygen administration.
  • Coordinate and maintain difficult airway carts, identify and assess potential high-risk airway patients, and participate on code airway teams.
Requirements
  • Current MA respiratory license.
  • New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist as a condition of employment/termination of employment.
  • Current registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential effective January 2017 for new hires.
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in Respiratory Care.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation - Memorial Campus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care or other health care related curriculum.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current PALS certification-University Campus.
Work Environment

This position will be covering the following campuses, North Pavillion, University and Memorial on a cross-covering rotation.

This position requires working every other weekend and holiday.
