About the Role

The successful candidate will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in an inpatient and outpatient clinic setting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and prioritizing consults from primary care and other services for outpatient oncology consultations.
  • Obtaining medical history, conducting physical examinations, and ordering and evaluating laboratory testing.
  • Planning and prescribing treatment for patients, and coordinating medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other personnel.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as peer review and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations.
  • Providing oncology on-call services as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical and surgical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in using electronic medical records. Additionally, they will be able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a medical degree (MD or DO) from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Be board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Medical Oncology Board.
  • Hold a clear and active DEA.
