As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency at SMC Corporation. Your expertise in lean methodologies and six sigma principles will be essential in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within our medical device production environment. Your contributions will directly impact key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive advancements in quality, cost management, delivery, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a catalyst for organizational transformation on the lean journey.
  • Conduct process and value stream mapping to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead Kaizen events and activities to promote operational excellence.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze performance data to inform decision-making.
  • Evaluate material flow, inventory management, and overall operational workflow.
  • Design effective work cell layouts and facility flow to enhance productivity.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action initiatives, including root cause analysis.
  • Conduct capacity analysis and planning to optimize resource utilization.
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide training to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools, including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and DMAIC.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and teamwork skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively across various departments.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools/software.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Prior leadership experience in team development.
  • Experience in the medical device sector.
  • Proven track record in implementing lean manufacturing practices.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Capability to work for extended periods while seated and using a computer.
  • Close visual acuity for data analysis and detailed review.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with frequent interruptions.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting, and manual dexterity.
Annual Salary Range: $83,000 - $103,000 DOE
